What are deepfakes? How they work + how to spot one - Norton

Click the link above for more information.

Based on the research we’ve done, it has been decided that we will not allow deepfake images or videos to be posted on the chat rooms or message boards, publicly, privately or in VIP rooms.

If you are reported for sharing such images, you are liable to be banned from 321SexChat.

Deepfake images of your own images (ie yourself) can be posted (for now) but must explicitly state that they are deepfakes.

Is this considered as deep fake? My face on a digital drawing?

Right choice. It's becoming unbearable the infatuation with this lately.
Are you wanting users to report deep fakes that we see?

Tbf CM already addressed this in his post. You are posting your own image so consent can be assumed. With most deepfakes made and shared, consent is neither sought nor granted, and that lack of consent is kind of part of the point of it. It's kind of like the difference between you choosing to send a nude to someone v someone stealing and posting the image to a revenge porn site

If you post your image you are choosing to make it public if someone has a mind to fake an image they will. Anyone can take your images from here and go anywhere. Forbidding deep fakes here does not protect you from this. This isn't a dating site it's a sex chat, there are all kinds of people that come here and most aren't looking for their soul mates. Keep your personal info personal and there is nothing more personal than your face. I appreciate any attempt to stop malicious behavior but at the end of the day you have to use common sense.

This is an outstanding decision. I applaud you for choosing to not support this truly deplorable practice. Thank you.

Excuse me but would it have hurt to give the literal room where edits are made a heads up?? I have worked so hard getting that room to where it was in the past couple weeks and basically yall just said fuck you to me and everyone else who did edits.

And let me get this straight. A room where you post pictures of your wife and girlfriend is perfectly ok, even if they may not even know ur doing it??? Please explain to me if ur gonna change ur policies on taking pics that may breach a person's personal privacy across the board then? If ur gonna do it for complete strangers, why do you stop and wives and girlfriends?

At the very least you could have given me a heads up. Especially since I have given this site money for VIP. Never mind the fact that you could have messaged me at ANY time regarding concerns that you have had with the room. Hell, you could have brought them up to me when I came to you for making the room, ChatMaster!

To be clear, I'm not asking for you to reverse your decision. I have come to terms with the fact that decision has been made. All I would like is an explanation as to why you never even bothered to contact me and why I had to wake up to my room getting nuked.

I would suggest that additional clarification may be valuable / required. Where “deep fakes” have become known to imitate real people saying and doing things they did not do, therr is perhaps a difference between that and using software to “enhance” your image, or “mask” your true identity for safety and privacy.

so, does this include the use of FaceApp and other software that adds “filters”? Does it ban the use of AI generators to give you a “better” looking body?

one of the unintended consequences of this policy is preventing Transgendered or transitioning people from posting their pictures. Some transwomen are very self-conscious about their bodies. When posting real, unretouched photos, they have received negative, hateful comments. The use of AI has allowed them to post pictures that use their face, but provides a body to which they aspire…giving them the confidence to post and talk about where they want to be!

As well, because of issues with identifying people who may have deleterious effects in their personal or professional lives, others use filters/face changing apps to mask their true identities. Is this really something we want to restrict?

The concept of “caveat emptor” should always apply when dealing with others in an online environment. Perhaps rather than banning pics, you could consider frequent warning statements. As well, perhaps the restriction of posting in Private Messages could be lifted, as once someone agrees to PM, are they not accepting risk anyway?

thanks for the considerations….

As a photoshop user, one of the most common interactions that I have with other users on the site is editing privately shared photos. Often this involves "face swaps" of the user's pics into other explicit photos upon request and with prior permission. I do not think this would be considered a violation of the "deep fake" ban, but would like to get clarification so that my membership and others doesn't get jeopardized unaware.

That shouldn’t be an issue, generally.

Hello Chatmaster. I am not trying to stir the pot or make an issue. I just want to be 100% clear with all of this and follow the rules.

So, as long as a person in the DM asks for a "face swap" using photoshop... and I mark it with an "Edited by ... " and place the original photo within the edit as a comparison, I will be ok and not be banned. Is this correct? If this is correct, what if they post an edit in the main chat without my permission? How can I ensure I do not get banned for that? If this is not correct, all of the edits I have done in the past have the "Edited by Michael550" and the original photo on the edit. If that person were to post it would I get banned even though it was an edit from months ago?

Again, I am not trying to be an annoyance. I just want to make sure that I am follow the new rules and the correct procedures for DM requests on face swaps using photoshop.

Sounds fair enough to me.

It's a shame, the truth is, I couldn't see anything wrong with making deep fakes, just by setting certain rules, it would be necessary so that nothing bad happens with the photos. I know that people could use them as blackmail, but come on, many would realize that it is fake because of body type or hair color since what is done most are face edits and in the room I asked an editor if he knew what he found with the photos and he told me that he deleted them along with the edit that had done for the person who sent it to request

I think there needs to be differentiation made between "deepfakes" and AI generated pics. Deepfakes are REAL pictures of REAL people that get edited to look like porn (usually), AI pics are generated and are generally people who do not exist or, you swap out faces. If it is an AI pic of yourself, why would this not be allowed as you are obviously consenting to it if you are posting a pic of yourself. Just asking as I do get why deepfakes are not allowed as they are at best a grey area of law.

What makes you say a differentiation is not being made? The rule as described clearly relates to deepfake images, as you defined them yourself. Btw it is not "at best a grey area of law" in an increasing number of jurisdictions, including in the UK (where a good number of 321 users live) where the making and sharing of deepfake images is illegal under the Online Safety Act 2023, several states in the USA, and probably elsewhere. But more than that, it is morally abhorrent wherever you reside
