If you're into fantasy, A Game Of Thrones by George RR Martin is a must. It's a masterpiece of world-building, character development, mystery, and detailed sex scenes for some reason? Believe me it's nothing like the show. It's better. I sound like a nerd, but believe me, damn it. You'll probably have to read the other 4 books, though. Read slow. My man George writes at a leisurely pace of 4 words per year.
If you're a little depressed, Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoyevsky is always a, well, it's something. You will definitely not be happier after reading. Entertained, perhaps? But definitely not happy. It's an amazing novel filled with existential questions and the worst human beings you'll ever meet.
But, for something different, The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka is a short story of a man who turns into a disgusting insect. It's a short read but god damn will it make you sad.
